Fun Family Time
We were having so much fun tonight I had to post something!! We had a great family night with pizza, a movie and memories! First we watched Bandslam, a cute flick with lots of great music. While we watched we ate a Costco take and bake pizza (go figure) canadian bacon and pineapple... not my favorite, but the kids loved it!! The best part was afterward when Dewey got on YouTube.com and found some of his favorite music from when we were growing up! It was a mixture of great songs like Twisted Sister, We're Not Gonna Take It, and They Might Be Giants, There's a Birdhouse in Your Soul. We danced to the Beach Boys, Reel Big Fish, If I Had A Million Dollars and Pinch Me by Bare Naked Ladies, The Way by Fastball, a few good Bon Jovi, and I was surprised that I still knew every word to Aerosmith's Angel. The kids thought we were insane listening to these songs, not to mention the videos of the artist, but it was a blast!! I love music, and am thankful to my parents for teaching me to love all kinds. I remember when I was a kid I only liked what my older siblings liked, and I hated what dad liked. That was until we moved to AZ and everyone listened to what my dad listened to... country, which now happens to be my favorite! Sorry dad, you were right all along, it is good stuff!! Dewey can remember almost any song ever played, things that his parents used to listen to when they were working as kids, or music they listen to at Costco while they are working. Music is great for memorizing. In fact, I had a boss once who used to tell me I should only get A's in school because he had listened to me while I was cleaning and I sang every word to every song on the radio as I did it. I still remember the scripture masteries from seminary that we put to songs. Lately the music I listen to is kids songs, so I guess I wouldn't know ANYTHING, unless it was also in a kids movie we watched!! But that is our life as it is now, right!!??!!

Thanks for sharing, it makes me want to come over and sing and laugh with you all. I love the memories that come from singing old songs. Dad's favorite was Anne Murray and it was playing when we painted our house green, and it embarrassed him when I sang all the words to "Can I have this dance for the rest of my life, will you be my partner in bed every night." He sent my mom in to have a chat with me and I said if we couldn't sing it, we shouldn't listen to it, right?! But it sounds like you kids are making memories now too. SO FUN!
