Twins Seventh Birthday

Yep, they are seven. It is amazing how quickly they grow. They are almost done with 1st grade. They are both reading monsters, and love books like crazy. Especially the Tree House books and anything about animals or ninja turtles or sports. They both love to play soccer and baseball and basketball. They both love to jump on the tramp and collect rocks and draw. Willard loves to build lego anythings and has figured out how to change the designs to make the cooler! Joselyn loves to brush, walk or bathe the dogs. Annie sleeps in her room, and she always begs for her to sleep on the bed too. The both love to snuggle with me and read to me and make dinner with me or do the dishes or fold laundry (well maybe that last one is wishful thinking!)!

Break Out the Baseballs and Gloves...

I love love love love love spring and the sunshine and the smell of fresh rain and the green things starting to grow (OK, so everything is still brown) and most of all I love BASEBALL SEASON!!! Dewey had a day off two weeks ago (poor guy only gets them every once in a while) but he decided to put up the trampoline we had bought the kids for Easter. While he was doing that, a friend stopped over to ask Dewey to re-thread some baseball gloves. Dewey LOVES to do things like that! Not to mention he was able to keep his favorite glove for his team. This year he didn't get the Yankees to coach, so he told them to give him whatever team was available. He got the Rangers. It will be a fun year, although I am a little nervous about the practices (and games) where Dewey will have to come over off his lunch break to get to them! Hopefully he'll have an excellent assistant coach that is NOT ME!! LOL

Anyway, back to my favorite reason for the season... Baseball (or softball). I love throwing with Dewey and the kids. I remember when I was pregnant with the twins and it hit spring and they were almost due and Dewey pulled out the gloves and we were catching in the front yard. Dewey wanted to pitch and we had a long driveway and he drew a pitching line on it and I was back against the garage while he pitched to me (36 weeks pregnant with twins)! It was great! It was funny when the neighbors would stop and see Dewey (but not me) and think wow he has an arm, and they'd start talking to Dewey and I'd come waddling forward and they'd yell at me... "What do you think you're doing?" I'd just laugh! It wasn't like I would not catch it, right!

When I was a young girl, my dad let me put a nice big mark on our cement fence and I would pitch to it for hours getting ready for softball. I ended up wanting to catch instead of pitch, but I still loved it. My dad loves baseball too. He would pitch to me and throw with me and we'd watch games together and go over my stats. He has a goal to see the Arizona Diamondbacks play in all the different stadiums. Thankfully my mom enjoys it too (well mostly just the traveling and spending time with my dad)! Dewey tried to convince my dad to buy a condo in AZ just so we could go down for Spring Training season!!!

One of my goals as I am losing weight is to get my swing back. I would really like to be on a team once again, but my family comes first so that may have to be a long term goal. No matter what, I still want to play catch and teach our kids to play the best game on earth!

Family Fun

I love having family over to visit. I think that I tend to monopolize time, when people come over I just want to catch up and visit... even if they were going to go home early! Keith and Rachael brought their little girl, Peyton over to play and we had fun talking, jumping on the trampoline, going shooting, and play wii games! We even cajoled them into staying for dinner, poor Peyton fell asleep in the middle, and Dewey carried her off to sleep in his arms! Even though it was only part of the day, it was so much fun!
